Just downloaded the demo version for Windows - thanks for giving the chance to try it out. Unfortunately I get many crashes when opening a .flt database. For example Remo3D wasn't able to open one of these (admittedly quite big) freely available .flt files:
http://www.grime.net/downloads/simulations.htm
Loading smaller models worked, but Remo3D doesn't know.rgb files - which certainly are used in many existing .flt databases.
Beside these functionality issues the look & feel of a tool makes me like it or not - and to be frank, it would take me some time to get warm with it. The file open dialog simply looks awful - reminds me at long passed of simple GUI times. And the mouse wheel for zooming in/out should definitely be supported!
I better stop criticizing which is much easier than creating a good product, I know.
Hopefully the Remo3D developers find time (and money) to improve their fair prized product (although I wouldn't purchase the licence for the current version).

Thanks for your feedback! Sorry for the delayed reply. I didn't get an e-mail notification and we have been quite busy since the v1.0 release.
.., we have many suggestions of new features for the future relases. We are constantly trying to prioritize our issues and new features according to the needs of our customers. Although we have no public road-map for the development of Remo 3D, some of the planned "features" are support for previous and later OpenFlight versions, support for searching nodes by attributes, more advanced texture mapping, new licensing types, etc. Please tell us if there are any specific features that would be nice to have in the next release.
Ernst, we have tried the FLT files you pointed out. For us they work fine. We are however aware of the performance issues with large FLT files and we are looking into those issues for the next release. Could you please describe in more detail what happens when loading these files?
Regarding RGB files, these are of course supported. Perhaps you have tried to load an FLT file with relative paths to the RGB files? We have discovered a bug related to relative texture paths. It is however fixed and will work fine in the next patch release of Remo 3D. In the meantime, you can use Change All Paths from the Edit menu in the texture palette and indicate the path where the RGB files are located. We would really appreciate it if you could find the time to test this for us, in order to verify that this is not a new problem.
Regards,
Andreas Ekstrand

Hi Andreas
Thanks for your advice. As first I made my homework and installed the newest graphics card driver and ensured that it worked fine. Re-installed Remo 3D and loaded the sample databases again - no crashes anymore and setting the file path also solved the problem with .rgb files.
The databases in question are in an unsupported .flt format - which must be confirmed several times while Remo 3D loads one of them. An option (checkbox) in the confirmation dialog giving the chance to "show this message only once" would be nice. Due to the "old" .flt version some databases appear quite incomplete in the editing window (for example "pondi") while others are only missing a few polygons.
I further tried with some smaller models from the Delta3d project http://www.delta3d.org which also has some free .flt models and terrain databases in their download page:
https://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=113203&package_id=143034
There's a nice tool for loading .flt, .osg and other vis-sim file formats in good quality (no modelling, just exploring) which can serve well for cross checking the appearance/rendering of models:
http://www.viewtec.net/index.php?page=terrainview
What remains is to wish you good luck and success with the further development of Remo 3D... and have a nice weekend.

Thank you for the feedback, Ernst! This is very valuable for us, and you're right - a check box in the OpenFlight version warning dialog would be a good solution.
Thanks for the delta3d model and viewtec tool tip-offs, we will download them and try them out.
